Minimising Fees

28 October 2009

Know your fee-free ATMs

MyState Financial’s ATM network, rediATM recently joined forces with the NAB to create a 3,200-strong network of ATMs across Australia. Now, MyState Financial customers can take advantage of their monthly free withdrawals at ATMs from either organisation without incurring any direct charges. What’s more, NAB ATMs will soon display the rediATM logo to remind you.

Select ‘credit’ when using your Visa Debit card

When paying for purchases with your Visa Debit card, select ‘credit’ as your payment option. Credit transaction are not charged a fee by MyState Financial and do not count towards your monthly allowable transaction count.

Carry your card

Paying with Visa Debit is also a great way to withdraw cash at the same time, fee-free! When paying for fuel or groceries it’s the ideal time to take a little extra out for those cash-only occasions, and will save you from running to an expensive ATM when all you need is $2 for parking.

Pay bills by phone or on the internet

When you’ve got internet banking, you’d be amazed at how quick and easy paying bills can suddenly become. This is a great way to avoid fees because transactions conducted on the phone or online are free. To set up internet and phone banking, drop into your nearest MyState Financial Branch.

Avoid making small, frequent withdrawals

Make a conscious effort to remain within your monthly free withdrawal limit and think ahead when withdrawing at the ATM.

Cash advances cost you

Try to avoid Visa Debit Card cash advances through banks and Australia Post as they attract a much higher fee.

Less equals more

Consolidating multiple accounts can help avoid unnecessary transfers and withdrawals which may attract fees.

Make your regular transaction automatic with a ‘pay-split’

If you need multiple accounts, try to have your salary payments split into multiple accounts instead of using up transactions by transferring from your main account.

Take out a home loan with MyState Financial, or move from another financial institution.

Having a home loan with us will increase your combined balances and should reduce the fees you pay.
